Incense Matches offer an alternative way to enjoy the beautifully refined incense fragrances from Japan's Awaji Island. Each box contains 30 incense matches and one burning mat for holding smoking incense. Burn time is approximately 10 minutes.
Skilled craftsmen from Sakai brought traditional incense manufacturing techniques to Awaji Island in 1850. Thanks to its characteristic westerly winds which are ideal for drying incense, Awaji Island over time became the biggest incense manufacturer in Japan.
Care Instructions: Note - Incense matches are delicate. To light, place forefinger over match head and strike. Wait for flame to reach approximately 1/4" of the incense. It will then extinguish itself or can be gently blown out. Place smoking incense match on burning mat and enjoy.
Matches breaking during lighting is not common and becomes less frequent after getting a feel for it. However, if breakage does occur, light both sides with a lighter and proceed as instructed above.
