This fine, Indigo-hued fringed scarf, woven on a traditional jamdani loom of ultra-light organic Bengal cotton, is accented with individually hand-stitched motifs.
Weavers in Bengal have been perfecting the textile art form of jamdani for over 2000 years. Fine cotton fibers are painstakingly drawn and spun into a slender muslin yarn, which is then dyed, washed and dried along the banks of the Ganges. Hundreds of little motifs are then hand-sewn using the jamdani technique while the yarn is being loomed.
